Every year, Michigan State football has a handful of players who look to be solid contributors, but for whatever reason, they don’t get the same amount of attention or respect as other guys at their position.

It could be the fact that they’re unproven at the position or that the position is loaded with talent now and they’re not yet considered one of the “star” players, but they deserve a little more recognition than they get.

The Spartans have some transfers getting overlooked this offseason as well as some returning veterans, but who are the three most underrated players on the roster?

I almost put Drew Beesley here, but I went with a guy that gets even less attention than the returning senior who was one of the Spartans’ representatives at Big Ten Media Days.

Drew Jordan came in as one of the early transfers for Mel Tucker this offseason and yet he has gone unnoticed, it seems, as he isn’t projected as a starter, but I believe he’s going to have a prominent role on this defense, especially after getting in the best shape of his life.

Plus, people seem to forget just how good he was at Duke. Sure, it was just Duke, but he had 99 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and nine sacks over 40 games in Durham and his final season was his most impressive. He had 33 tackles with 3.5 sacks and he brings that experience and plenty of production to East Lansing.

Now that he’s in great shape, he could have a big season in the green and white and surprise some people. But his resume should have earned him more respect by now.
