Michigan State football faces Nebraska for the first time since 2018 when they lost 9-6 against the Cornhuskers. Nebraska coach Scott Frost is in pivotal year four. The Cornhuskers have had three straight losing seasons under Frost and the fanbase is losing patience.

The team goes as its quarterback Adrian Martinez goes. He was the leading rusher last season.

Martinez made some big strides with his accuracy and if he can take that next step, Nebraska could be a team that could make a move in the West division.

Do I believe that will happen? No, I think Nebraska is still a team in flux and, just like Michigan, has an identity problem. They seem to be living in the past and unfortunately, I think they will be decent, at best, this season.

Can Michigan State beat the Cornhuskers? Absolutely, Nebraska does not have the talent of Miami. If the Spartans can contain Miami quarterback D’Eriq King, they will definitely figure out Nebraska’s Martinez.

This game will come down to stopping the big play. Michigan State’s defensive line is looking good but it is also the offseason. However, with guys like Jalen Hunt and Drew Beesley they should be able to shut Nebraska down.

This is the game where Spartan fans will see this team come together. What I mean is that it is the fourth game and they will be firing on all cylinders. Nebraska has always played the Spartans tough, but fans can expect Mel Tucker to have his crew ready to go.

Prediction: Nebraska 17, Michigan State 38
