Michigan State Football: Dashaun Mallory’s transformation is unreal
The new Michigan State football coaching staff has been in the spotlight for the past year, but there are two hires by Mel Tucker that deserve more recognition.
Jason Novak and Amber Rinestine have teamed up to create one of the best one-two punches in terms of getting players in shape and eating healthy. They’re responsible for getting a number of guys in the best shape of their lives.
In fact, progress pictures have made their rounds this summer with guys like Chase Kline, Jayden Reed, Jalen Nailor, Drew Jordan, Elijah Collins, Christian Fitzpatrick, Keon Coleman, and Kameron Allen, among others, looking like new players. They went from being in pretty good shape to being shredded in the span of a year — and some even months.
All of those players have had impressive body transformations but no one has truly compared to what Dashaun Mallory has done this past year, dating back to last summer.
Take a look at what Mallory posted, shared by Spartan Tailgate, on Saturday.
Mallory looks like a different person here. He looks like the chubby kid at school and then made the transformation to school bulls in the span of about 14 months. This is truly an unbelievable transformation and it should help him see the field this fall as his conditioning won’t be a problem anymore.
Regular Michigan State football contributor?
Michigan State is likely going to run out Jacob Slade and Jalen Hunt in the middle of the defensive line as starters this season, but with this transformation, it looks like Mallory is poised to make a run at a starting spot.
In 2020, Mallory played in his first six career games, recording 15 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks. He showed flashes and I think we’ll see even more in 2021.
I’m not counting out a more motivated Mallory this season.
