Thursday was a big day for college athletes everywhere as the new NIL rules went into effect and they could start making money off endorsements for the first time ever.

The name, image, and likeness rule changes have also opened the door for speculation regarding former athletes. Like what if this new system was in place when Chris Webber was still in college or should Reggie Bush have been punished and forced to return his Heisman Trophy?

But one former player who was egregiously criticized by rival fans over such a minuscule amount of money stands out for Michigan State fans. The Miles Bridges situation was brought into question.

In case you don’t remember the “improper benefits” he was involved with, he reportedly had dinner with an agent before his sophomore season which deemed him ineligible for a short period of time and the NCAA finally decided to reinstate him if he donated the value of that dinner ($40) to a charity of his choice.

As a college kid, $40 can sometimes be tough to come by and Bridges trolled the NCAA on Thursday during the flurry of athletes making a quick buck off endorsements on social media.

Forget the fact that Bridges did get to donate the money to charity for a second and just realize how perfect of a tweet this is. If that sort of thing were to happen now, there would be no broken rules and Bridges is just having a little fun now that he’s a multi-millionaire.

The Miles Bridges fan club grew with this tweet because everyone loves a good mocking of the NCAA and its inconsistencies. What would make this even better is if the NCAA actually sent him a check for $40 to make up for the tough time they gave Bridges.

Unfortunately, that’ll never happen.
