First, it was Miles Bridges leading the Hornets in scoring in their play-in tournament game, and then it was Xavier Tillman playing hero ball against Draymond Green and the Warriors to advance to the playoffs as the No. 8 seed. But not before Draymond finished with yet another triple-double.

Jaren Jackson Jr. played a big role in helping the Grizzlies speed past the No. 1 seed Jazz a couple of nights ago as Spartans in the NBA were becoming stars almost overnight.

But Jackson Jr. wasn’t the last Spartan to have an important role in an NBA playoff win this year as Bryn Forbes caught fire on Monday night, helping the Bucks blow by the Miami Heat to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Forbes entered the game and immediately chose to scorch the earth with his shooting touch, making his first five shots from the floor and he scored 14 points in a five-minute stretch.

He finished with 22 points and five rebounds off the bench, making 6-of-9 shots from deep.

Not only did he look like baby Steph Curry all night, but he also looked like vintage Forbes from his Michigan State days, catching fire from distance and continuing to heat check for the remainder of the night. He would have games like this while at Michigan State and it was always an absolute game-changer. The Bucks have reaped the same rewards as they won by 34 points.

Forbes had a +/- of plus-16 off the bench in just 20 minutes of action. That’s what you call making the most of your minutes.

Bryn Forbes has been a Heat killer all season

This isn’t the first time Forbes has played well against the Heat this season. In two January games against Miami, he averaged 10.5 points and made 9-of-14 shots.

And then in the regular-season finale, he scored 21 points, made 5-of-6 shots from 3-point range, and shot nearly 80 percent from the floor. He followed that up with a quiet Game 1 performance of five points on 2-of-5 shooting, but he quickly rebounded for 22 points and five rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting.

Miami has to be pretty sick of Forbes right about now.
