Mel Tucker is getting his first crack at a real season in 2021 and if his recruiting and transfer portal hunting are any indication, he’s ready to win now.

Michigan State is in a decent spot with 15 solid transfers coming in and a top-50 recruiting class, but once he actually can host recruits and meet with them face-to-face, there’s a good chance his recruiting is only going to improve.

With the talent improving on the roster, there are still a number of guys left over from the Mark Dantonio era who could break out this season and have major impacts on the outcome.

But there are also new players who could have big seasons.

Which offensive players could break out in 2021?

If Kameron Allen being on this list surprises you then you probably didn’t read the headlines this spring when the coaching staff admitted that the freshman tight end was becoming a leader in the position group. If that’s the case after just a few months, he could have a huge career in East Lansing.

Allen is a 6-5, 220-pound tight end from Texas and he arrived early on campus this winter and had an immediate impact. He led the tight end room on and off the field.

Michigan State is trying to utilize tight ends more and with Matt Dotson and Tommy Guajardo moving on and no clear No. 1 guy at the position, Allen could slide right into a starting role if he continues his upward climb. He will have to battle it out with former punter Tyler Hunt as well as veteran Trenton Gillison, but seeing him win the TE1 job wouldn’t be a total shock.

Allen has more than enough talent and potential to be a day one starter for the Spartans and he might just shock some people in 2021.
