It seems like just yesterday Gabe Brown and Tom Izzo were getting into a shouting match heading into the locker room at halftime of Michigan State basketball’s First Four game against UCLA.

The Spartans had a healthy lead, but a missed assignment on defense prompted the Hall of Fame head coach to pull his junior wing aside and tell him what he thought he did wrong. The exchange got a little heated as Brown felt as if he was right in the situation and began to walk away from Izzo before the head coach tried to grab his jersey to continue the discussion.

Obviously the interaction made headlines because it just pushed the narrative that Izzo’s coaching style didn’t work and he was pushing his players away.

Well, the Izzo haters had to eat some crow as Brown spoke to Andy Katz on Monday and he discussed the interaction and if it ever crossed his mind to transfer. He basically shot down any idea of it being a big deal and said that Izzo was just coaching.

This is the first time Gabe has publicly spoken about the interaction and it’s pretty clear that he didn’t see an issue with it. He said that’s why he came to Michigan State and it “was nothing” which pretty much goes against everything the Izzo haters have said.

Michigan State basketball looks “great” for 2021-22

Brown also spoke about the outlook of the 2021-22 season despite losing some key players like Aaron Henry, Josh Langford, and Rocket Watts.

Katz asked him what he felt about the upcoming team and he said the Spartans are “going to be great” and that the team is working hard this offseason to get back to their winning ways.

Michigan State is going to be really young next season, but if Gabe is right and the team actually will be “great” like he says, the future should be very bright.
