Michigan State Football: Top 3 QB targets in 2022 class after missing on AJ Duffy

AJ Duffy was the top quarterback on the board for Michigan State football in the 2022 recruiting class, but the four-star, top-100 recruit from IMG Academy chose Florida State.

Now that the top quarterback target in the class is headed elsewhere and Michigan State now must identify new priorities. Sure, it would have been great to land Duffy over Florida State and Arizona State, but he may not have liked what he saw in the quarterback room in East Lansing with Payton Thorne, Noah Kim, and Hamp Fay all returning underclassmen.

With Duffy off the board, who could the Spartans now turn their attention to in the 2022 class at the quarterback position?

Katin Houser became the latest quarterback prospect to receiver an offer from Michigan State as it came in on Thursday morning. The four-star prospect from California was on Mel Tucker’s radar even before missing out on AJ Duffy and extended an offer to him just a month after he committed to Boise State.

Houser could very well stick with that original commitment, but chances are he’s going to get tested a few more times before he officially signs with the Broncos.

Michigan State is the first test of his willpower. Will he entertain the idea of joining a Michigan State program trending in the right direction with Tucker leading the charge or will he stick with new head coach Andy Avalos and Boise State?

The four-star quarterback has just over a dozen offers and turned down Pac-12 programs for Boise State. Will Michigan State be too much for him to say no to?

Tucker is pushing for a couple of committed quarterbacks and Houser is the No. 13 pro-style passer in the class, according to 247Sports.
