Michigan State owns two of the most impressive streaks in all of college sports. The most well-known of those two incredible runs is the 23 straight NCAA tournament bids the Spartan basketball team has secured throughout the years under the leadership of legendary coach Tom Izzo.

The more mind-blowing of both marks is the fact that the Michigan State football program has had a prospect chosen in an NFL draft for eight consecutive decades.

Granted, the program hasn’t always been elite but this speaks to how steady they have been over time. They certainly have suffered down years, yet it typically doesn’t take too long for them to get back to their winning ways. Much of that stability can be attributed to the university consistently bringing in excellent coaches such as Biggie Munn, Duffy Daugherty, George Perles, Nick Saban, Mark Dantonio, and current head honcho Mel Tucker, to make sure overall success is sustained and high standards remain intact.

Despite a challenging autumn in East Lansing (stemming from pandemic-related difficulties and a new coaching staff transitioning in), odds are that a few former Spartans will hear their names called and MSU will see this amazing tally continue and remain alive.

Round one will take place Thursday night. Rounds two and three will be held on Friday evening. Lastly, rounds four through seven will be conducted on Saturday afternoon. Spartan fans everywhere are hoping all three defensive stalwarts will be selected in this week’s draft.

Here’s a look at the trio who could keep the draft streak alive.
