Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker could be flipping the script in rivalry against Michigan. He has certainly been flipping the roster.

I spoke with a longtime Michigan fan this morning. I causally mentioned how coach Mel Tucker has been flipping and remaking Michigan State’s roster. His words were “That doesn’t sound like good news at all. At least Michigan still has quality basketball to look forward to.”

He went on to add that while he loves Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh as a fan, he dislikes him as a coach.

I cannot blame him especially considering  the fact he’s done nothing at his time in Michigan. No wins against OSU or titles leaves a fan with wanting something to latch onto for hope in the coming season.

Who knows if Tucker can make MSU competitive this fall. But it is his aggressiveness in the transfer portal and in recruiting that gives fans optimism for the 2021 season. He’s added about a dozen transfers and brings in a talented recruiting class as well.

My friend’s recommendation was for Michigan to blow it up and start over. I concur with his assessment. Tucker is already 1-0 verses Michigan and this fall he could be keep Paul Bunyan in East Lansing. Adding top recruits from the transfer portal usually equal success. For every Jalen Hurts there are other players who never pan out. However, comes back to that Tucker is doing something while Michigan doesn’t seem to be.

It’ll be interesting to see how things transpire this fall.
