Michigan State Basketball: Final score predictions for Maryland rematch
Michigan State basketball gets another shot at revenge on Thursday to kick off the second round of the 2021 Big Ten Tournament.
After a one-year hiatus from the Big Ten Tournament due to COVID-19, Michigan State basketball gets to go out and try to defend its crown.
The last time this tournament was played in full, the Spartans took home their sixth title which followed a regular season championship. Long gone are the heroes from that team like Matt McQuaid, Kenny Goins, Cassius Winston and Xavier Tillman, but Aaron Henry and Joshua Langford look hungry and poised to do what their former teammates did.
It all starts with a rematch with Maryland on Thursday afternoon in the first game of the day. The Terps beat Michigan State a couple of weeks ago which ended its three-game winning streak and the Spartans want some revenge.
How does our staff see this one shaking out?
Connor Muldowney: OK, so I’ve gotten every one of the games in the hot seven-game stretch for Michigan State right and I’m going to try and keep the streak alive. If the trend continues, Michigan State fans should be very happy because I think the Spartans get some revenge here and big games from Marcus Bingham and Rocket Watts. We’ll see much better perimeter defense and a complete win to earn a rematch with Michigan.
Final Score: Maryland 66, Michigan State 71
Jack Williams: MSU got destroyed by Maryland last time. The circumstances are different now and this team is hot. I think the Spartans will show up to play and get a pretty comfortable win.
Final Score: Maryland 55, Michigan State 68
Carter Landis: I think with the time off to finally rest, Michigan State should be able to get into a rhythm offensively. Maryland won’t shoot as well as they did last game, and Michigan State should take care of this game for the most part.
Final Score: Maryland 55, Michigan State 61
Conner Linsner: Maryland took advantage of it the last time they played. Michigan State is red hot right now and Rocket Watts had a great performance against Michigan and could be starting to look like the point guard Michigan state has needed. With finally some time to rest and Izzo getting a good chunk of time to gameplan I can’t see Maryland coming out on top.
Final Score: Maryland 71, Michigan State 76
Stephen Robb: What I watched on last Sunday was the MSU team we thought we’d be watching all year. The Spartans last time against Maryland settled for jump shots. Look for Rocket Watts to drive more. The Spartans might have found their offensive rhythm.
Final Score: Maryland 58, Michigan State 69
