2. Rocket Watts scores in double figures again

Fresh off his best game of the season which helped the Spartans upset No. 2 Michigan and likely punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament, Rocket Watts may have some newfound confidence.

Actually, he’s the kind of player who thrives on confidence. When he sees a shot drop, it’s tough to rattle him. He’s consistent in his aggressiveness when he feels like he’s on his game, but sadly, he’s hardly felt that way this season, leading to just 7.8 points per game and 34 percent shooting from the floor.

If Rocket finds his confidence and mojo, watch out.

I think Sunday night’s performance against Michigan will carry over into Thursday as Tom Izzo will give him more minutes and trust him to run the point. He looked more comfortable there against Michigan and he’s earned more time. He played 33 minutes and had just two turnovers.

Watts is going to have yet another solid game against Maryland, bouncing back from his last performance against the Terps when he scored just five on 2-of-7 shooting.

Rocket will reach double figures in the scoring column for the second straight game — the first such occurrence since December.
