Michigan State basketball is getting another crack at Maryland in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

The streak lives on. While Michigan State has likely secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament with three wins over top-five teams to end the regular season, a victory over Maryland can only ensure that the Spartans don’t have to participate in a play-in game.

Getting one of those byes as a No. 11 or a No. 10 seed would be huge. But that will start with beating a tough Maryland team on Thursday afternoon.

The Terrapins beat Michigan State a couple of weeks ago which ended a red-hot three-game winning streak but the Spartans haven’t forgotten that ugly loss just yet.

Will the Spartans get some revenge on Thursday afternoon?

3. Marcus Bingham Jr. records double-double

Marcus Bingham Jr. has been looking like a different player over the past couple of weeks and one of our writers went as far as saying that he’s been Michigan State’s unsung hero during this 5-2 stretch to end the regular season.

In those five wins to end the regular season, he averaged 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks while shooting an impressive 65 percent from the floor.

Bingham has been playing much better of late but he has yet to grab double-digit rebounds or score 10-plus points this season. That’s going to change on Thursday afternoon as he’ll be that spark that the offense and defense need against the Terrapins.

The junior hasn’t forgotten what happened the last time MSU faced Maryland: he played just three minutes. He’s going to top 20 minutes and record his first double-double of the year.
