Michigan State basketball gets a chance at revenge against Michigan on Sunday evening. Does the Spartan Avenue staff believe it’s in the cards?

Thursday night did not go well for the Spartans. With a chance to spoil Michigan’s Big Ten title hopes, the Spartans fell short, getting stomped in Ann Arbor 69-50.

Sunday evening presents an opportunity for Michigan State to exact some revenge and potentially secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Michigan isn’t going to go easy on the Spartans despite locking up the conference title and Michigan State has a lot to figure out after the debacle a few days ago.

Is revenge in the cards for Sunday evening?

Connor Muldowney: I don’t even know what to think of this matchup anymore. The Spartans completely folded after a flagrant in the first half on Aaron Henry and while that wasn’t the reason they lost, they looked completely disinterested. Hopefully two days off will give Michigan State some fresh legs and it’ll help Henry and Langford get their shots back on track. I see a much more motivated Michigan State team showing up on Sunday and giving Michigan its best shot. This one will be much closer. Upset city? Speaking it into existence here.

Final Score: Michigan 71, Michigan State 74

Jack Williams: It would be delusional to think that MSU has much of a chance in this game. That being said, I think we’ll hopefully see some looser officiating, allowing the Spartans to get into a flow. Michigan will assert their dominance in the end though, giving them another win.

Final Score: Michigan 79, Michigan State 69

Carter Landis: Michigan State is still tired, and Michigan hasn’t slowed down since they came off their COVID-19 pause. If MSU wants to win, they’ll have to actually make their shots from the outside. Someone outside of Aaron Henry will have to contribute.

Final Score: Michigan 68, Michigan State 57

Conner Linsner: After a tough loss on Thursday, the Spartans look to bounce back. Michigan has already won the Big Ten title and this game really does not mean much besides the rivalry. Maybe they rest their players; maybe they don’t. The Spartans have their backs against the wall and would love to try and solidify themselves into the NCAA tournament. Hungry dogs run faster.

Final Score: Michigan 67, Michigan State 70

Stephen Robb: This Spartan team looked gassed last time they played Michigan. I’d be surprised if Michigan head coach Juwan Howard eases up in this by not even playing his starters. He wants to sweep MSU. Unfortunately this is not good for Michigan State’s tournament chances. Maybe if Aaron Henry could score 50 then they’d have a chance.

Final Score: Michigan 73, Michigan State 61
