Michigan State Basketball: Final score predictions for Maryland road battle
Michigan State basketball desperately needs a big win over Maryland to work toward a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Will the Spartans get one?
Tom Izzo is a magician. A week and a half ago, Michigan State looked dead in the water after losing to Purdue to drop to 10-9 on the season, but three straight wins have changed the outlook of the entire season. The Spartans now have a fighting chance at a tourney berth.
Michigan State now gets a big battle with Maryland on the road and this one is important for both teams. The Terrapins may be safely in the field right now while Michigan State could be knocking on the door.
Will the Spartans secure a fourth straight big-time win?
Connor Muldowney: Look, I want to be optimistic about this game, but something tells me that Maryland is going to play with the same sense of urgency the Spartans have, defending their home floor. The Terrapins are playing their best basketball of the season right now and so is Michigan State so this should be one heck of a battle, but something about the Xfinity Center just worries me. The Spartans may be the better team overall, but Maryland has home court, which is huge even in the COVID-19 era. Joey Hauser, Joshua Langford and Rocket Watts will all play well, but it won’t be enough.
Final Score: Michigan State 69, Maryland 71
Jack Williams: The Spartans will march into Maryland’s house and hand them a loss, officially announcing Tom Izzo’s team as being back. Aaron Henry will continue to do his thing and Rocket Watts will bounce back from last game.
Final Score: Michigan State 76, Maryland 58
Carter Landis: Michigan State is winning, and Maryland is winning, but Maryland hasn’t beaten anyone good. Michigan State is proving to be a much better team now, so they’ll take care of business on the road.
Final Score: Michigan State 61, Maryland 55
Conner Linsner: Maryland and Michigan State have both been red-hot lately. The Spartans go on the road where they have struggled this year. Maryland makes their shots and Michigan State doesn’t.
Final Score: Michigan State 63, Maryland 80
Stephen Robb: Maryland is a formidable foe. They have athletic guards who could cause problems for MSU. Rocket Watts is the key to victory. He must finish at the rim. Josh Langford and Aaron Henry need to stay out of foul trouble. If Langford can have a better game, the Spartans could pull off another win.
Final Score: Michigan State 64, Maryland 61
