Heading into the offseason, there are many Michigan State football players with a lot to prove. Which guys have the most to prove?

After Mel Tucker’s first season, there were a number of players who expected to have major impacts right away falling by the wayside. Some of these guys were expected to be stars under Mark Dantonio eventually and others actually did produce.

Some have been solid in their limited action under Tucker while others have been waiting for their chance to shine.

We saw this offseason that some players didn’t have the patience and felt that their hard work wasn’t rewarded as much as it should have been in Tucker’s first year. We saw former blue-chip recruits Devontae Dobbs and Julian Barnett depart despite having bright futures transfer to Memphis. We also saw Chris Jackson, Tre’Von Morgan, Jeslord Boateng, Luke Fulton, Marcel Lewis and Davion Williams do the same.

The roster has been thinned out and Tucker is bringing in a lot of his own guys like Anthony Russo, Harold Joiner, Kenneth Walker III, Jarrett Horst and Drew Jordan via the transfer portal.

Add in the incoming 2021 recruiting class and you have a team that’s starting to take shape although there’s still plenty of work to do.

How things will get rolling quicker is if some veterans step up and prove themselves this offseason. Which guys will have the most to prove to Tucker and the staff before 2021?
