Michigan State Football: 3 offseason 2021 predictions for Spartans

3. More players will be added and lost via the transfer portal

Michigan State has already lost 15 players to the portal, and I expect that number to grow. With spring football giving players a look at where they will be on Mel Tucker’s “rep chart” more players will opt to leave Michigan State in hopes to gain a bigger role at another school.

Also, Tucker has added five players from the portal and I anticipate there will be more additions. Michigan State still could use another cornerback and linebacker with the losses of Shakur Brown and Antjuan Simmons to the NFL draft.

One could also argue that adding a tight end or some more line depth on both sides of the ball is something the Spartans need. Either way, Tucker will continue to add more talent to his squad during the offseason.

Trimming the fat and adding talent is something Tucker has been doing, so there really isn’t a reason to think that he will stop.
