Michigan State Basketball: Ranking the 5 best moments of 2020
The 2020 calendar year is officially in the books and it’s time to look back at some of the best Michigan State basketball moments of the year.
It’s been a roller-coaster of a year and not just for sports fans, but for the entire nation. It seems like 2020 has been the year that will never end, but on Friday, we will all officially move on and try to put this nightmare of a year in the rearview mirror.
But in the sports world, everything was put on hold starting in March. In the college basketball world, there were rumblings of a potential novel coronavirus outbreak that could derail the 2019-20 season, but no one truly believed it. There was no way March Madness would be cancelled, right?
Wrong.
No one knew that Cassius Winston’s step-back 3-pointer to bury Ohio State for a third straight regular season Big Ten title would be the last moment of him in a Michigan State uniform, but he went out on top. It wasn’t the picture perfect ending everyone imagined with him hoisting a national title trophy in April, but he still went out a champion.
And then the offseason felt like it lasted decades long. Cassius and Xavier Tillman were gone but the team returned plenty of talent, led by Aaron Henry, Josh Langford, Joey Hauser and Rocket Watts. Would that be enough to defend the Big Ten crown? As of right now, no.
Despite an ugly start to the 2020-21 season, Michigan State has had plenty of great memories from the 2020 calendar year. Let’s take a look at the five best moments.
