2. Rocket Watts

When Mark “Rocket” Watts came to Michigan State to play basketball, he was many things. He was an exciting ball handler, explosive athlete and strong passer. But the attribute that comes to the forefront of his game was his shooting. Through three Big Ten games, Michigan State’s most electrifying scorer has converted on just five of his 29 shots from the field.

Not only does that include only two 3-pointers made, but it has been highlighted by a handful of stuffed layup and floater attempts. As a result of this, Watts reportedly asked Izzo to move him away from the point guard position and back into his more natural shooting guard spot.

This should help him bounce back from a rough start, as a lot of weight was on his shoulders trying to fill Cassius Winston’s shoes.

Watts had a slow start in 2019, so it’s not time to sound the alarms. But if the Spartans want to compete in the Big Ten, he has to step up shooting the ball.
