Michigan State basketball started out the year strong, but have failed to compete in the Big Ten. Who is to blame for the recent struggles?

Throughout my life as a Michigan State basketball fan, I never really considered myself to be spoiled or entitled. That being said, my mindset completely changed amidst the brutal opening stretch of the Spartans’ Big Ten schedule.

Maybe it was the fact that Tom Izzo beat Duke, giving everybody hope at the beginning of the year. Maybe it was the fact that we just watched four years of Cassius Winston at point guard. Whatever the reasoning may be, one thing is clear: State fans do not know how to handle losses, especially on Twitter.

The implosion of Michigan State basketball fans doesn’t really come as a surprise, but rather a reminder of the sustained success that Izzo brought to East Lansing. The losing streak definitely isn’t a positive, but we can be glad that it happened early in the season, leaving the door open for improvement the rest of the year.

But that begs the question: which parts of this team need the most improvement? After watching the past three games, you could simply say that the entire team needs improvement. There hasn’t been a single guy who hasn’t played bad, even for a small stretch of time.

These are the top three Michigan State basketball players to blame for the current losing streak.
