Michigan State basketball unveiled some awesome new alternate uniforms for Sunday night’s game against Northwestern. Take a look.

This seems like it’s been the year of the new uniforms. First, it was the football team revealing some alternate uniforms a couple of times this season and then the basketball team showed off some new jerseys for the regular season with the 2000 national title jersey-inspired trim.

There was even some talk of a ‘Script State’ uniform for the football team against Maryland, but the Terps cancelled both contests against the Spartans because of COVID-19.

Well, there’s a new look coming for the Spartans on Sunday night.

In fact, the official Twitter account revealed what can be assumed is a black alternate uniform combo with what looks like no writing on the front and just a Spartan logo above the players’ numbers. Take a look below.

This type of excitement the athletic department is generating in both football and basketball in terms of new alternates is only going to help recruiting. Michigan State revealing fresh new looks may not hit with the old-school fans, but the young recruits love it. And these jerseys look like they’ll be a splash hit.

While it doesn’t matter what you look like when you’re actually playing the game, even the ugliest jerseys can look good in wins.

If Michigan State is able to take care of Northwestern on Sunday night, you can bet that this jersey will become a fan favorite and we’ll see Tom Izzo whip them out for a big game later in the season.
