2. The Spartans go 7-1

This may be as bold as it gets but I’m predicting a near-perfect month for the Spartans as they go 7-1 in December and head into the month of January with a 9-1 overall mark.

On top of that, the Spartans will be 3-0 in Big Ten play after taking down Wisconsin at home in one of the best conference games of the season as well as Northwestern and Minnesota on the road. In a normal year, those two road games could be tough, but since there is no home crowd to deal with, the Spartans should handle both inferior foes rather easily.

The month starts with a huge road game against Duke and we all know how Michigan State usually fares against the Blue Devils. So this won’t be easy. But I see the Spartans winning this one without fans at Cameron Indoor.

Shortly after, Detroit Mercy comes to town followed by Western Michigan for two wins. A road trip to Virginia will be the only slip-up of the month and I think it’ll be a two-point game.

Michigan State will take on Oakland in the only remaining non-conference game and we’ve seen that the Grizzlies can be a problem if overlooked — just ask Michigan. Then three wins over Big Ten opponents in December to finish 7-1.
