The 2020-21 college basketball season is finally here and Michigan State will host Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night.

There will be a different feel for the opener in East Lansing, however. The Spartans won’t have the Izzone cheering them on and the capacity crowd will be absent due to the pandemic, but this is better than nothing.

Fans have been waiting about eight months for this opener after the NCAA Tournament was cancelled last season when Michigan State was playing its best basketball of the season. It was heartbreaking as the Spartans had just captured their third straight regular season Big Ten title and looked like a favorite to make a run at the national title.

Returning are guys like Rocket Watts, Aaron Henry and Joshua Langford while new faces such as Joey Hauser, Mady Sissoko and AJ Hoggard will make their debuts in a Spartan uniform.

Eastern Michigan, on the other hand, is fresh off a 16-16 regular season and the Eagles got off to a red-hot 9-1 start last year before losing to Michigan State 101-48. You can bet they haven’t forgotten that and want revenge here.
