1. A quarterback battle has opened up again

I might be in the minority here, but Michigan State should give all three quarterbacks some game experience this season. We saw Payton Thorne come in to throw one pass for Michigan State on Saturday in the fourth quarter, but at that point it was far too late for any valuable game experience.

The offense isn’t in the best place right now and Rocky Lombardi doesn’t look completely healthy as he was hobbling around the field all afternoon. If he’s not at full-strength, let someone else see the field.

Payton Thorne and Theo Day may be behind Rocky in terms of experience and knowledge of the playbook, but you don’t want another Brian Lewerke situation where you play Lombardi hurt and he loses confidence and is never the same. He looked like a shell of himself against the Hawkeyes and it was clear he wasn’t 100 percent despite him saying he wasn’t hurt.

Michigan State should realize that this season is a wash and this would be the perfect opportunity to get other quarterbacks some snaps so why not do that while Lombardi gets back to full strength?
