Prediction: MSU pulls off massive road upset

There’s just something about this matchup in Iowa City that has me intrigued. Michigan State might not be as solid, on paper, as the Hawkeyes, but the Spartans have enough talent and they could have their quarterback by this game and that’d be bad news for Iowa.

Let’s not even get into the off-field distractions for Kirk Ferentz here because I don’t think that’ll have much of an effect, but the Spartans will take advantage of no hostile crowd.

Michigan State will pull off a huge road upset here to improve to 2-1, surprisingly, on the young season.

Prediction: Matt Coghlin kicks game-winning field goal

Coming off an emotional upset win at Iowa, Michigan State will host an Indiana team that has improved each year under Tom Allen. This season will be no exception.

Michael Penix Jr. will be one of the best quarterbacks in the conference and he gave the Spartans trouble last season but Michigan State snuck out with a win. The same will happen this year as Theo Day and Penix Jr. will have quite the quarterback duel.

This game will come down to the final minutes as Matt Coghlin will line up for the game-winning field goal with five seconds remaining in a 24-24 game and he’ll drill it from 37 yards out to give Michigan State yet another big win to improve to 3-1.
