4. Theo Day starts every game

Call it a hunch, call it whatever you want, but I believe Theo Day gets the start for game one and keeps that job for the rest of the season.

A 6-foot-5, 225-pound sophomore with three years of eligibility left and a strong, accurate arm? That sounds like the best option to me. He’s also got a couple years under his belt and he’s going to soak in this new system and take what the coaching staff gives to him. He probably needed a fresh start after not seeing the field much in 2018 and 2019.

Day was a four-star prospect out of Divine Child (Mich.) and he looked like a star out of high school. He had the size, athleticism and strong arm to remind me a little of Connor Cook with more mobility. He can escape crowded pockets and make plays on the run or pick up short yardage with his legs.

Mel Tucker is going to go with his sophomore quarterback to start the season and he’s going to carry that tag throughout as the quarterback of the future.
