The 2020 season is just a couple of weeks away and Michigan State football is preparing for a rebuild. Which defenders can expedite that?

Another fall Saturday is approaching and while that would normally mean Michigan State is getting set to kick off against presumably a Big Ten foe, this time it means we are one weekend closer to the start of the 2020 season.

COVID-19 has thrown wrinkle after wrinkle into the plans of the new coaching staff and after getting all hired after National Signing Day in enough time to prepare for spring ball, the NCAA cancelled all activities in that time and left the first-year staff wondering what was next. It was hard enough getting brought on so late, but now there was no spring to prepare and acclimate to the new team? Rough.

Heading into the fall, the Big Ten decided to postpone the season until spring but reversed its decision about a month later, seeing that the Big 12, ACC and SEC were all moving forward with plans to play and it was going smoothly.

The Big Ten’s return excited fans from all over the Midwest and it means that Michigan State gets a chance to prove that it’s going to be more than just an average three or four-win squad.

If the Spartans want to win more than three or four wins, they’ll need a few guys to step up on the defensive side of the ball. Who will they be?
