Michigan State football’s schedule release has gotten fans thinking about the future of this team. Which games are the most important scheduled matchups?

When the 2020 Michigan State football schedule was released last week, it sparked excitement across East Lansing. Football was officially back and there was finally something to look forward to. But among the anticipation, there was a sudden moment of realization that came along with it.

This squad isn’t going to be competing for a Big Ten title any time soon. That’s not news, but when I looked through the schedule game-by-game, it really started to hit me. The must-win games are no longer the Ohio States of the conference, rather the middle tier teams.

Pair this with the fact that the Big Ten will be playing in an eight-game conference schedule, and the Mel Tucker will be experiencing an action-packed, fast-paced year one in charge of this team. In even more fast-moving fashion, the three important games that I’ll be picking for this year’s schedule will all come back-to-back… to back.

In a three game stretch that could be a sign of the times for Michigan State Football, this squad will come up against all three of these teams. Having said that, there is no expectation whatsoever  for this team to go 3-0. In fact, the argument can be made that a single victory would suffice for a team experiencing a complete overhaul.
