Chris Kapilovic is going to have plenty to work with as Michigan State football’s offensive line looks to have beefed up quite a bit this offseason.

If there’s one position group that has been completely underwhelming in East Lansing over the past couple of seasons, the easy answer would have to be the offensive line.

There have been stars on the line carrying the load over the years, but it’s been a while since the Spartans had a true All-Big Ten or All-American candidate. That might be changing with new line coach Chris Kapilovic in town as he’s regarded as one of the best in the business.

At Colorado, he was responsible for turning the line around in just a year and he got them to live up to their potential.

Michigan State fans are hoping he can do the same thing for the Spartans.

A good start would be beefing up the line which has been knocked for years for being too small and not aggressive enough. It looks like the strength and conditioning program is paying major dividends as the line has beefed up — for the most part — big time this offseason.

Kevin Jarvis is the leader of that line and it’s good to see him putting on 18 pounds and most of it is likely muscle. Jordan Reid (who opted out earlier this offseason) is up 10 and may choose to opt back in. Devontae Dobbs added some good weight and is finally over 300 and JD Duplain made a huge jump from 289 to 310 pounds. Nick Samac is up to 300 while Spencer Brown may have shed some bad weight and is now at 310.

And it’s not just the offensive line beefing up as Colton Pouncey did his research and found out that Payton Thorne added about 13 pounds, going to 210 from 197.

Michigan State is adding the beef and getting faster. It looks like the strength and conditioning program is trending in the right direction.
