Looking back on the Dantonio era, Michigan State football had unparalleled success. Which teams were the best of the 2010s?

The students who attended school in East Lansing from 2013-17 were front and center to witness a stretch of Michigan State football that will not likely be matched for decades to come. The guy we have to thank for this? Mark Dantonio, somebody who hasn’t received much glory in recent years.

Dantonio took an annual winner and drowned them with the same ideology that brought him to the top. Pride came before the fall for the legendary coach and in the end, he led this team down the same road that the coaches did before he came here.

But while Dantonio may have left this program in a bad place, he took this program to its highest peak in a half century. The last decade came along with a College Football Playoff appearance, five seasons with at least 11 wins and a win total ranking among the best colleges in the country.

Michigan State finished in the top 10 almost as frequently as it didn’t and set a new standard for this program.

Now, we’ll take a look at some of the peaks of Dantonio’s career as a head coach. Throughout the 2010s, the Michigan State Spartans established themselves as a college football force to be reckoned with. These are the teams that got them there.
