Watching Gabe Brown as a freshman gave Michigan State fans hope. He showed flashes of greatness and potential to be a future NBA player and star for the green and white, but he was quiet for the most part as his role on a loaded team was minor.

Gabe averaged 2.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game as a freshman, but he improvs a sophomore, kicking the year off with more aggressiveness and more of a slashing style of play. That’s exactly what he needed to work on instead of just standing in the corner and shooting threes. Brown has too much athleticism to be buried in the corner.

However, a strong start to the season was halted when he got sick and finished the season on a sour note, losing his shooting touch and confidence after being out with an illness.

Brown still averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 34 percent from 3-point range and 44 percent from the floor. He could make a huge jump this season as a projected starter, especially since Josh Langford’s minutes may be limited on the wing.

The Spartans need Gabe to live up to his potential in 2020-21 and if he does, he could have serious pro potential.
