Michigan State football has had some impressive quarterbacks come through the program since 2000, but who have been the best?

Over the years, Michigan State has been fortunate enough to have good quarterback play. From the Bobby Williams era all the way to the end of the Mark Dantonio era, the Spartans fielded plenty of NFL talent at the position and it’s been one of the biggest strengths over the past two decades.

Now that we’re entering a new era, it only makes sense to look back at some of the best gunslingers to don the green and white over the past 20 years and rank the top five.

There have been far more than five, obviously, but the top group definitely separated itself. So no, you’re not likely to see guys like Tyler O’Connor or Andrew Maxwell on this list. If we were looking at the best wins since 2000, O’Connor’s 2015 start against Ohio State would make the list, so we can’t discount what he accomplished in East Lansing.

Moving forward, the position is uncertain as there will be a first-year starter under center in 2020 to start the Mel Tucker era but whoever wins the job could very well be on the next list of top quarterbacks since 2000 — whenever that one may be written.

For now, let’s take a look at the best quarterbacks in East Lansing since 2000, ranked.
