Former Michigan State football players are preparing for the NFL Draft but one incoming Spartan has huge potential for Mel Tucker and Co.

Former Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio built the program on finding hidden gems as well as by sprinkling in a few four-star players in each class but 2020 wasn’t his best cycle.

Incoming wide receiver Ricky White from Marietta, Ga., could be another one of those gems, however. He stands 6-foot-1 and weighs about 165 pounds, therefore he will need to add some good weight.

However, if he redshirts this year then he’ll be ready to compete. He was a late riser with offers from Georgia Tech, Syracuse and Pittsburgh.

During his senior year at Marietta High School, he snatched 92 passes as he broke the school record. In his junior year, he caught 55 balls for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns. He knows how to get open and that will huge for Mel Tucker’s offense.

Tucker wants to get his athletes in space and White fits the bill. He knows how to make a defender miss and extend a play with his athleticism.

Everybody looks great on their highlight video, I get it. But it is the little things he does well with his routes and where he puts his feet in the turf and makes a cut. That is a player who has been coached well, who does those things in high school.

Next. Where will MSU prospects land in 2020 NFL Draft?. dark

It’ll be interesting in a few years to see where White will be on the depth chart because he has endless potential and could be the next great Spartan wide out.
