Brian Lewerke is probably the name everyone has been waiting for and will be looking forward to hearing later this week as he had the most polarizing career of any Spartan on this list.

Starting his career as a redshirt freshman, Lewerke had some flashes of greatness against Northwestern and Michigan before breaking his leg and missing the remainder of a forgettable 2016 season. At that point, it was obvious that he was the future of the program and won the starting job right away in 2017.

During that sophomore year, he broke out for 2,793 yards and 20 touchdowns and he rushed for another 559 yards and five scores. He was on everyone’s radar as one of the best quarterbacks in the conference for 2018 and a potential NFL draft prospect as a junior. And then he was hit with injuries which turned into a confidence-less season.

Lewerke bounced back as a senior to pass for 3,079 yards and 17 touchdowns, but he did have 13 interceptions and his accuracy wasn’t all there.

Scouts and draft experts know that his accuracy is a major question mark, but his athleticism at the position and ability to tuck and run — and he can make an eye-popping throw here and there — could land him on a roster next season. Oh, and he scored a 30 on the Wonderlic, so he has the smarts.

Projection: Fifth or sixth round
