Michigan State Basketball: Top 10 moments from 2019-20 season
The 2019-20 season was a memorable one for Michigan State basketball, especially with the way it ended. Which moments topped the rest?
Picking the best moments from one of the most interesting seasons in Michigan State basketball history wasn’t easy.
The Spartans had unforgettable moments from the season’s start whether it was a battle against Kentucky in the Champions Classic to Cassius Winston going off the night after losing his brother to him having a career game against Michigan. Those were just a few of the quick moments that could have made the list (though a loss to Kentucky wasn’t the best memory).
Winston’s senior year, like everyone expected, was one of the most exciting and unpredictable seasons in Tom Izzo’s tenure.
Not many teams can trail in the Big Ten standings with a couple of weeks to go and still wind up winning out — twice on the road against ranked teams — and capturing a share of the conference title. The Spartans did just that, beating Maryland, Iowa, Penn State and Ohio State to win a third straight regular season championship.
Ending the season with a victory hasn’t happened in 20 years, but it did once again in 2020 as the NCAA Tournament was cancelled, but the last taste of Michigan State basketball was a positive one.
Let’s take a look back at some of the best moments of the 2019-20 season, ranked.
