Michigan State basketball had a successful 2019-20 season which concluded with a Big Ten title, but were all the best wins from conference play?

What a season it was for Michigan State. Filled with the highest highs and lowest lows, Michigan State fans wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Spartans started the year just 5-3 with losses to Duke, Virginia Tech and Kentucky and it looked like the preseason No. 1 team was gearing up for a massive letdown. Getting trounced by an above average Duke team at home was not ideal, especially on Draymond Green jersey retirement night, but that seemed to light a fire under this team.

They reeled off eight straight wins, including victories over Rutgers, Illinois and Michigan to start Big Ten play 5-0.

And then the rough patch hit.

Michigan State lost five of eight games and fell to 16-8, looking like a 6/7 seed at best when the NCAA Tournament rolled around. There was another fire lit under the team in mid-February and it all started with a put-back dunk by Xavier Tillman against Illinois which turned everything back in the right direction.

Tom Izzo’s team went on to finish the season with five more wins over ranked teams, the best road record in the conference and another Big Ten title — the Spartans’ third straight.

With no NCAA Tournament this season, we’ll take a look back at the three biggest wins of the season for the green and white.

Honorable Mention: vs. (12) Michigan, at (22) Illinois, vs. (18) Iowa, vs. (19) Ohio State
