Josh Langford said he will partake in senior day festivities but Michigan State basketball may still get him back for a fifth season.

Josh Langford was on pace to have his best season as a Spartan in 2018-19 and there was talk that he might be headed off to the NBA after the season, and then the injury bug bit — and bit hard.

Langford played in just 13 games, missing the entire second half of the regular season as well as the NCAA Tournament as he got treatment for his foot.

Resting it all season and rehabbing it during the summer, it seemed like the Spartans would have a loaded roster when he returned in the fall. He was a 15-point per game scorer and had the ability to create his own shot, make long-range jumpers and defend at a high level. He instantly upgraded the roster and helped ease the loss of Matt McQuaid from last year’s Final Four team.

And then the injury bug reared its ugly head again as it seemed like he never truly got back to full health and suffered setbacks. He was ruled out indefinitely and then later for the season.

At that point, he made the decision that this would be his last year of college ball and he’d either pursue pro basketball elsewhere or he’d find a different career path. He reneged on those words just a couple days later, but everyone just assumed he did that just to make fans happy.

Well, he’s doubled down on those reneged words as Tom Izzo revealed on Thursday that Josh was unsure of his decision.

Taking part in senior day festivities would lead many to believe he’s leaving, but still stating that he’s undecided about a fifth year leaves that door open.

Just imagine next year’s lineup with Langford returning:

1: Rocket Watts
2: Josh Langford
3: Aaron Henry
4: Joey Hauser
5: Xavier Tillman (assuming he returns)

And then having guys like Marcus Bingham Jr., Mady Sissoko, Thomas Kithier, AJ Hoggard, Gabe Brown, Malik Hall and Foster Loyer coming off the bench would make for incredible depth.

The door is cracked open, but don’t get your hopes up, folks. There’s a good chance Langford departs, but he’s meeting with Izzo on Friday.
