Bench

The bench needs to be a bit more productive going forward if the Spartans are going to make a run down the stretch. Only eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks on 3-of-8 shooting isn’t going to cut it.

Gabe Brown: B

Gabe Brown had one of his best games in the past month, finishing with four points, six big rebounds and a block. He had two big offensive rebounds and scored a couple of big buckets for the Spartans down the stretch.

Kyle Ahrens: C+

We didn’t see much from Kyle Ahrens in 12 minutes of play, but he did hit a couple of big free throws at the end which shut the door for good on the Nittany Lions. He did have a tough turnover early and missed both of his shot attempts, but played decent defense off the bench.

Marcus Bingham Jr.: C+

Like Ahrens, we didn’t see much of Marcus Bingham Jr. and it seems like his conditioning is keeping him behind Malik Hall on the depth chart in the post. He had a nice block on Lamar Stevens but didn’t do much else.

Thomas Kithier: C-

It’s not often you see a player get just four minutes and nearly foul out in that time, but Thomas Kithier had a forgettable game.

Foster Loyer: C

Foster Loyer scored a couple of points on a nice jumper, but when he came in to give Cassius Winston a break, the team nearly self-destructed.
