Michigan State basketball is getting set to host No. 9 Maryland for a monster Big Ten battle at the Breslin Center. Will the Spartans make it two in a row?

Ending its patented three-game skid with a win over Illinois, Michigan State now has a chance to win a second straight game over a ranked opponent with No. 9 Maryland coming to town.

The Breslin Center will be rocking on Saturday night with College GameDay in town but this isn’t a sure win for the Spartans. The last time GameDay was in town was a year ago when Indiana came to East Lansing and pulled off a massive upset to start the three-game skid in 2018-19.

Michigan State may have turned its season around with a win at Illinois, though. A victory over Maryland could spark a truly special run.

3. Gabe Brown gets back on track

Watching Gabe Brown struggle has been rough on Michigan State fans and especially Tom Izzo. His sophomore wing was expecting a breakout season and he looked like one of the top players on the team earlier in the season, even earning a spot in the starting lineup.

The potential for Brown to be one of the best sophomore in the league is there, but he has to be more consistent and trust himself more.

In the past four games, Brown has a total of nine points and is just 4-for-14 from the floor and 1-for-6 from deep. Granted, he did miss most of the Wisconsin game with an illness so he played just three minutes and didn’t score, but he’s been out of sorts ever since the sickness hit. Could it be the fact that he has been playing sick or just trying to shake off rust? Maybe, but there needs to be a comeback game soon and I believe that’ll be Saturday.

Brown will bounce back with a double-digit scoring performance and six rebounds with a couple of big 3-pointers down the stretch.
