1. Big Ten title slipping away

This time a year ago, Michigan State went on a three-game losing streak and played some of their worst basketball in a while and the same seems to be happening this season with another rough stretch, capped off by a home loss to Penn State.

While this loss to Penn State isn’t quite as bad as a home defeat against Indiana last year, it still stings and might take the wind out of the Big Ten title sails.

The Nittany Lions out-toughed Michigan State down the stretch and that’s uncharacteristic of a Tom Izzo-coached team and you know he’s going to address that in practice this week leading up to the Michigan game on Saturday afternoon.

If Michigan State loses to the Wolverines and has five losses in conference play after starting the season 5-0 in the Big Ten, you might be looking at a team that blew its chances.

Disappointing is one word to use to describe this season but more so heartbreaking for a kid like Cassius Winston who has given it his all.
