Entering the transfer portal this week, Chase Brice could be a serious option for Michigan State football who recruited him heavily.

Earlier in the week, D’Eriq King entered the transfer portal, and Vegas immediately released odds for the schools that have the best chance to land him.

Michigan State was listed as one of the top teams to land King, from Houston, and it immediately caused speculation about whether he would be interested in the Spartans. They were his first offer in high school and it made sense, especially with the Spartans in need of a quarterback for 2020, but it was more of a dream scenario than anything else.

But a new dream scenario has come out of nowhere as Chase Brice, Trevor Lawrence’s backup for the past two seasons, has announced his transfer from Clemson.

You might be asking yourself what kind of connection does this Loganville, Ga., native have to Michigan State and it’s quite simple: the Spartans recruited him heavily in high school.

In fact, there were three 247Sports Crystal Balls for him and one was for Michigan State while the other two were to Clemson. He was considered a serious option in the class of 2017 and now that he’s back on the market, the Spartans could take another shot at him.

A recent Saturday Blitz article stated that Michigan State would be one of three top options for Brice. Does this truly make sense?

Honestly, it does make sense and the interest is probably there from both sides, but it all depends on if Mark Dantonio wants to take a transfer or trust his unproven guys. That situation is doubtful because there’s a rumor that he was going to target KJ Costello but decided to “stick with his own guys” for next year.

Next. Michigan State's all-2010s starting five. dark

Yes, Brice is a realistic option and yes, it would be worth targeting the Clemson transfer but is Dantonio willing to take a “risk” on a transfer? He needs to take a page out of Tom Izzo’s book and better his team in any way possible.
