Michigan State vs Northwestern live stream: Watch Week 4 online
Saturday afternoon’s Michigan State vs Northwestern game from Evanston will be an important battle between two Big Ten dark-horses.
Is there a more important game for Michigan State in the month of September than a road battle against a tough Northwestern squad? Probably not, especially since the Wildcats have had the Spartans’ number over the past few years.
In fact, Northwestern has won the last three matchups and looks to put together its first four-game winning streak in the series. But Michigan State is poised to stop that drought.
Brian Lewerke is playing like his 2017 self and he has the No. 2 rusher in the Big Ten, Elijah Collins, backing him up. On top of that, he has the conference’s No. 2 receiver, Darrell Stewart Jr., also aiding the passing game. This offense has the talent and the pieces to make some noise, but it’s all about finishing drives — something it couldn’t do in the Arizona State loss.
Northwestern, on the other hand, is led by Clemson-transfer Hunter Johnson at quarterback but he has struggled mightily this season, completing less than 50 percent of his passes for 220 yards, one touchdown and three picks. Michigan State’s defense must take advantage of his struggles.
This could very well be a defensive showdown between the two teams and a real low-scoring affair in Evanston.
