Every year, it seems like Michigan State football has a few guys who step up out of nowhere and become stars. Who will it be in 2019?

The excitement level is sky-high in East Lansing heading into the 2019 season. Michigan State may be coming off a 7-6 campaign that fell drastically short of expectations, but the Spartans are hungry to turn things around and Mark Dantonio is known for breaking out a big season after a disappointing one.

In fact, every time Dantonio has won seven or less games in a season, he’s followed it up with breakout years. In 2009, he won six games and the next year, the Spartans were contending for a Big Ten title and playing Alabama in a bowl game. In 2012, Michigan State went 7-6 and the following season it won the Rose Bowl. Lastly, after going 3-9 in 2016, the Spartans won 10 games in 2017 and flipped the script.

Will the 2019 season follow that same trend or will the Spartans fail to live up to expectations for a second straight season?

Michigan State has a number of players ready to step up who might not yet be household names in East Lansing and those are who could help carry the team to a Big Ten title in 2019. Which under-the-radar players could step up to surprise people and become stars in 2019?
