Michigan State Football: Nick Samac could see field early for Spartans
Early enrollee freshman Nick Samac could see the field early for Michigan State football after a strong spring, earning high praise.
One of the quickest risers in Michigan State’s 2019 recruiting classes was offensive guard Nick Samac from Mentor, Ohio, and after being overlooked early on in the process, he could now become an early contributor for the Spartans.
Not only did Samac go from the 600-700 range all the way up to a four-star, per 247Sports, and a top-300 prospect, but he earned plenty of offers that were expected to pull him away from East Lansing, including one from Ohio State, but he stuck with the green and white.
Michigan State got in early on his recruitment and struck gold with his commitment. He rose quickly up the boards and became a top priority for some Power Five programs.
But people seem to still be overlooking the freshman guard who enrolled early this spring. Some are still high on Samac, especially recruiting expert Corey Robinson as well as Mark Dantonio.
If Samac can crack the rotation this year, he could immediately improve the offensive line which was a weakness all of last season, and it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise. He’ll weigh more than the 260 pounds he did as a senior in high school and his strength and athleticism will make him an important figure up front.
Everyone talks about Devontae Dobbs as the highest-rated signee in Michigan State’s 2019 recruiting class, but Samac might be the most overlooked.
Samac will produce early on for the Spartans and he might just snag someone’s spot on the two-deep by the end of the season, setting himself up for a big 2020 campaign.
