Andy Katz has released his list of the top 25 players in the nation and Michigan State basketball’s Cassius Winston came in at No. 1.

We’re here for the offseason rankings. Andy Katz has been going down his list of the top 25 players in college basketball over the past week, and the name at the top shouldn’t surprise anyone.

We watched as Xavier Tillman was ranked the No. 20 player in college basketball a few days ago, but he was the only other Spartan to make the list. Which is surprising because Katz has already claimed Josh Langford as one of the best shooting guards in the nation and Aaron Henry one of the top returning wings.

As the list wound down, it was apparent that Katz was going to have Cassius Winston in his top five, but he went as far as to rank him the No. 1 player in college basketball for 2019-20.

Winston is the only Big Ten player to make the top five and one of two power conference selections at the top of the list.

The Big Ten was well-represented in the top 10, though, as Lamar Stevens was at No. 10 and Anthony Cowan came in at No. 9. Ayo Dosunmu, Trevion Williams, Jalen Smith and Kaleb Wesson also made Katz’s top 25 list.

It’s wild to see how far Winston has come since his freshman and even his sophomore season. He went from sharing time with Tum Tum to leading the best team in America heading into the 2019-20 season. He is the best point guard in the nation, and there’s really no arguing that after his junior year.

Michigan State will likely open the year as the No. 1 team in the land and, according to Katz, it’ll have the No. 1 player leading the way.
