Adam Berghorst had a big decision to make, but he ultimately chose Michigan State football and baseball over the Texas Rangers.
Fans and coaches watched as three-star receiver commit Jase Bowen chose his dream of playing Major League Baseball over college football after being drafted by the Pirates and shortly after, three-star defensive end Adam Berghorst heard his name called as well.
It was a tough pill to swallow because Bowen was expected to have a strong career for both Michigan State football and baseball, but decided to pass it up to fight his way through the minor leagues.
Would Berghorst follow suit and pick the Texas Rangers and the MLB over Michigan State?
The decision has been weeks in the making, but he finally made a decision before a July 12 deadline. He posted his decision on Twitter on Sunday.
Honored to be drafted by the @Rangers in the MLB Draft but after many prayers and thoughts I will still continue my plan of furthering my education and football and baseball career at Michigan State University! pic.twitter.com/SGRbDg65d7

Not only is this a big win for Mark Dantonio, but also for Jake Boss and the baseball program. Berghorst has the potential to be a force at the defensive end spot for years to come and it’s going to be a position of need within the next couple of years with pending departures of Kenny Willekes and Jacub Panasiuk.
Berghost is a 6-7, 245-pound end from Zeeland, Mich., and was ranked the No. 655 prospect in the class as well as the 42nd-best strong-side defensive end, according to 247Sports.
Michigan State got some good news right before the freshmen are expected to report to campus and he could be an early contributor for the green and white.
