7. Josiah Scott named All-American, Thorpe Award finalist

Is this really that bold? I mean, Josiah Scott was named to the Freshman All-American team two years ago and looked like a star in just five games in 2018.

It may not be the boldest prediction, but it’s a testament to the defensive coaching staff, finding a three-star recruit who was overlooked by a slew of top programs and turning him into an All-American and Thorpe Award finalist — awarded to the nation’s top defensive back.

Just in case you don’t remember, the last Spartan to win the Thorpe Award was Darqueze Dennard in 2013 and Trae Waynes came close in 2014.

Since then, plenty of top cornerbacks have come through the program, but none have come close to reaching that peak. Scott has the potential to do just that and he will.

This kid may be the most talented player on the defensive side of the ball and no one is talking about him on a national level, for some reason. He’ll not only be named to the All-Big Ten first team, but All-American team and be named a finalist for the Thorpe Award.

Will he go pro after his junior year? If this all comes true, the answer is most likely yes.
