Michigan State Football: 5 freshmen who’ll rise up depth chart in 2019
Could Michigan State football have some freshmen who will break out in 2019 and have an immediate impact? Here are five who could be impactful.
Michigan State may not have an “elite” recruiting class compared to some of its other Big Ten foes, but there’s plenty to like about the 2019 group.
Some have enrolled early and have already proven their worth while others will be on campus this summer looking to make names for themselves.
There are a handful, of course, who could have an immediate impact on the depth chart and make the two-deep come fall. Who are they?
When Nick Samac committed to Michigan State last spring, he knew there was still plenty of time to garner offers from other Power Five programs, but he decided it was the right time to make it official and joined the green and white.
The Mentor, Ohio, native probably always dreamed of playing for the home-state Buckeyes, but Michigan State showed it wanted him and he committed and then signed later as an early enrollee despite eventually getting that coveted offer from Ohio State.
Samac has impressed this spring and has earned the praise of Mark Dantonio along the way as one of few early enrollees.
Michigan State likely has the starting offensive line set in stone, but the late-blooming freshman could push for snaps by mid-season and join that regular rotation. The Spartans could use all the help they can get on the offensive line and Samac is a kid who could surprise some people.
