Michigan State Football: Post-spring 2019 game-by-game predictions
Kicking off the 2019 season with Tulsa should be a nice way to get momentum swinging in the right direction. The Golden Hurricane are coming off a 3-9 season where they won just two games in the American Athletic Conference.
The year before that, they were just 2-10 and 1-7 in the AAC, finishing last in their division. Two straight years with last-place finishes and no end in sight for this program should have them just hoping to keep things close against the Spartans on a Friday night in East Lansing in late August.
That won’t be the case.
Well, it will for the first half because Michigan State always seems to come out of the gates a little slow, but it will pull away in the second half.
Brian Lewerke will get back on track to start the season, passing for 250 yards and three touchdowns with — get this — no interceptions on 17-of-24 completions.
It’ll be the perfect way to start the year.
Final Score: Tulsa 10, Michigan State 35 (1-0)
