Michigan State Basketball: 5 reasons Kerry Blackshear is perfect fit
3. Inside-out game would be ideal for MSU offense
Michigan State wanted Nick Ward to play more of an inside-out game and be able to guard the perimeter as well as in the post, and Kerry Blackshear can do just that.
Blackshear wouldn’t only be a great asset to have on the defensive end, but he can step back to hit threes as well as play with his back to the basket. Admittedly, the one game I watched with him live this season was against Duke and he played the worst he had all year in the post, missing a plethora of layups, but he had been solid leading up to that shaky performance.
The senior can stretch the defense better than Ward did and he can be a Kenny Goins-type on offense with more of a scoring threat from the post.
Michigan State could use a guy like him who plays inside-out because Xavier Tillman hasn’t quite polished his post game and doesn’t yet have a reliable jump shot.
